In other news. I checked my number again. It's gone down by 91 in 2 weeks exactly.
So they're doing about ~45 applications per week, or about ~6 applications per day, ~1 per hour which I think is really not enough at all...

A couple of months ago, I remember them being able to do about 400 per month. So they have slowed down by about half, which I think is an accurate estimation if we also look at how long the waiting time has increased officially.

YLE had this to say about RP applications (for specialists however): https://yle.fi/news/3-12609624
This year, residence permit applications for specialists have been processed in nine days on average. Migri said it has been able to accelerate processing through improvements in automation.
Here's hoping they can do the same with citizenship applications. I certainly know that as an automation engineer myself, I could make some serious improvements to these processes.

P.S. Let's keep the info here relevant to citizenship, and RP questions can be posted in another thread.

One final thing to mention (and I make this as a separate post for visibility)

Is that Migri releases very frequent updates on their "PRESS RELEASE" page, which aim to answer most of the common questions and complaints they get:

https://migri.fi/en/press-release

and

https://migri.fi/en/newsroom/press-releases

and btw, they have an RSS feed you can subscribe to, which will allow you to get the posts as eg. a smartphone notification:

Who is in stage 2 to waiting for decision? Any supplementary asked while stage 2? What makes mostly to long to wait being on stage 2? When will the decision be made after submitting the attachment and additional information file?

I think the queue number doesn't really matter something. It is slowing down when it is about to end soon. And migri can also increase your queue number for no reason. I think it is done only to calm down the applicants, so they are not texting to migri every week about application progress.
I was checking random diary numbers around mine and find out, that one applicant having a diary number 100 less than mine has 3400 people before him/her in queue. I'm having 2400 applications before me. Applicants having +/-10 diary number position as mine are having same queue number.

Happy to share that I got my positive decision yesterday. I applied in April 2022 and verified identify in Lahti on April 6th. It took a bit less than 7 months in general. Been in Finland for almost 7 years. First 2 of them with B permit as a student, the rest with A.

Got my decision when the queue number was around 4500. I was providing additional information about my trips and salary lists every two months, without migri asking. So when it started processing they didn't ask for any additional info. It moved to stage two and stayed there for two weeks.
Home country is not in EU.

Good luck to everyone!

I am now absolutely convinced that it is completely random, the order in which these are processed. Interestingly, I was also told just today by Migri that the minimum processing time is 7 months. So that aligns with you getting your answer.

In other news, I also tried this:

Hello everyone! This adventure concluded successfully for me today. I submitted my application in early June of 2021. Two days ago, my queue number was 20xx. People surrounding me with queue numbers still have applications awaiting the queue. I arrived in 2013 as a student (B type) and subsequently shifted to A type in the last four years, although without a high income. Someone wrote that his letter to Migri demanding fast processing may have been why he received the decision. I followed this recommendation and requested a quicker procedure. First, I emphasised in Finnish that I had previously waited a considerable amount of time and that this impacted my life. Second, I stated why I must visit my home country, and I cannot make sure when I can return to Finland.
I wrote my letter, approximately 300 words in perfect Finnish and provided extremely good arguments as to why I would like my application processing time sped up.

I got an answer 1 hour and 5 minutes later from Migri, (I have removed personal information below):
Hei [redacted]

Kiitos viestistäsi ja [redacted]

[redacted]

Nimenvaihdoksen jälkeen olet nyt uusinut kansallisen passisi. Sinulla on sekä oleskelulupakortti että kansallinen [redacted] passisi samalla nimellä, joten voit matkustaa.

Kansalaisuushakemuksesi odottaa, sillä hakemusten käsittely on pahasti ruuhkautunut. Hakemusten odotettavissa oleva arvioitu käsittelyaika-arvio on tällä hetkellä 7-26 kuukautta.

So with this, I can confirm that they:

1. Actually checked the status of my citizenship application
2. Actually checked all of the documents I submitted on my citizenship application, as they could clearly see that I recently uploaded a copy of my new passport and responded individually regarding all of them (though I did redact some info from the message I posted here)
3. Actually checked and entirely read the attachments in the email
4. Actually wrote me a specific reply that was completely personal to my situation (though again I did redact most of it)
5. Seemingly refused to expedite the processing of my application

So I can say that it is incredibly unlikely that the other guy (d12 a few pages back) actually got his application sped up because he contacted them. Likely it was just a coincidence. I arguably have an even more serious reason to need to have it sped up to leave and they just told me above "then leave if you need".

I requested an email read receipt and I got my email opened 57 minutes after sending, and the reply after 1 hour and 5 minutes since I sent it. So it took the person 8 minutes to check my citizenship application and email attachments and then write the above reply.

In any case. There really never has been any alternative other than just to wait.

Today is exactly one year since I proved my identity and this morning I received this:
Hakemuksesi odottaa käsittelyn alkamista - täydennä hakemusta
Hei!
Hakemuksesi odottaa käsittelyä. Ilmoitamme sinulle, kun hakemuksen käsittely alkaa.
Päivitä hakemukseen seuraavat tiedot:
Matkat
Ilmoita, oletko matkustanut ulkomaille hakemuksen jättämisen jälkeen. Jos olet matkustanut ulkomaille, kerro:
• Mihin maahan matkustit
• Mikä oli matkan syy
• Milloin matkustit ulkomaille ja milloin palasit Suomeen?

Toimeentulo

Maahanmuuttovirasto saa tiedot etuuksista suoraan Kelalta.
I have already sent the latest salary slip and travel history, but has any of you received anything like that?

I sent a couple email chain to them and it’s always the same person who answered them. I’m pretty sure she didn’t check my application because she only to me to wait patiently without any detail.
This is so random even with the person who answer the email.
