Citizenship application still stage 1, applied in August 2022.

Had to apply for an extended residence permit, as my current one is expiring in three months. Applied online yesterday, no visit to migri required. Application processed in a mere 15 minutes this morning with positive decision.

Can hardly wait to have that feeling on my citizenship application!

According to Migri it is either positive citizenship decision or
expiry decision if you yourself have cancelled your application, i.e. you can start celebrating already

I did indeed start celebrating, thanks! Simply went to Suomi.fi and checked my citizenship status there to discover that I have become a citizen!

So, for the forum stats:

Applied on January 13th 2023.
Application moved to stage 2 on the morning of June 26th, and in about 3 hours I got the decision.
Queue number was 4208 when it went into processing. Only a bit over 5 months of waiting in total!

Yes, RP grounds are obvious (same family ties as for previous RPs). No idea why they haven't started processing my citizenship application. Applied a couple of months before completion of four-year period, so subtract that from processing time + trips abroad (nothing out of the ordinary). I am also self-employed, so I had to include documents substantiating my business activities.

One can only hope that they are working on the queue from both ends.

My professional occupation and skills are really demanded in Finland, but I was able to be officially employed in about 5 months after my graduation. All because the fact that I graduated in May and when I started to look for a job most of companies had summer holidays. But starting from September I had six job interview invitations. Three months is really nothing for finding a job in Finland. I would say that even 6 months is not enough.

This sounds as if you didn't start looking for a job in May, which is your fault.
June and July can be problematic, most people are back at the office in August.

If your employer announces YT negotiations tomorrow, you will have at least 4 months until you would reach 3 months of unemployment.

Good point but I will keep my opinion the same - 3 months of job search is not enough in Finland.
It sounds a bit aggressive from your side, I just share my experience and opinion. I started to look for a job right away, but summer (including May in my case) was a silent season. And most of the companies already took summer workers, so I assume all the junior level positions were full until September.

Onboarding a new employee in June/July can be a problem, but not having job interviews for advertised open positions in May is not normal.

Were all 6 job interviews in September from job applications you submitted in May?

Good luck with your citizenship application! Your RP got processed crazy fast, congrats. Meanwhile, I have been waiting for my 2nd extended permit for almost 3 months now although I also have the same family ties as in my previous RP and nothing has changed. It's nice to see that Migri has speeded up some of the processes, but at the same time, it's hard to understand why some of us have to wait for months. Guess we will never know.

I am also about to start my citizenship application process, curious to see how long that will take. Good luck to everyone waiting.

I am just wondering if Migri keeps counting the trips outside Finland that lasts for a week or two, I mean short trips less than a month. From my understanding, I thought it is okay as long as they’re a short trips, but I noticed in the earlier comments that people mentioned that Migri calculates trips abroad. Does it impact if you travel every now and then but for short trips?

It is recommended to notify Migri about upcoming trip in advance so that they won't make a decision while you are abroad since e.g. positive citizenship decision will revoke RP immediately. But I'm concerned about the possibility of Migri making a decision right before the trip => I won't have enough time to get Finnish passport and won't be able to make the trip. How to deal with this properly?
E.g. if I have two weeks trip in a month should I tell Migri that I have four weeks trip in two weeks instead? I.e. add two weeks to real trip duration so that they won't do the decision up to two weeks before the trip? Any other ideas?

You should inform migri of your trips accurately. Small trips now and then are not a problem as long as they fall within the asumisaika guidelines. I had a similiar situation to you in which I had several trips abroad during my citizenship application period. In my case, once I got the positive decision, my citizenship status got updated immediately in the population registry (in some cases this might take some time though) and so I immediately applied for a Finnish ID and passport online, walked over to the Pasila police station for the biometrics/Identification and handed in my now-invalid oleskelulupa and non-citizen ID, paid a little extra to get the passport in 1 day (if I recall, if you apply before 11 am or soemthing like that, then you can get the passport the same day), and I got the my Finnish passport from the pickup point I chose (R-Kioski at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport) the very next day. The ID card you cannot get the same day but it took maybe 2 weeks before I got that.

No idea why my extended RP application was processed so quickly. Luck of the draw maybe, or choice of processing point? My application for my first extended RP four years ago required an in-person visit to the local migri office. Then, too, the processing time was very quick, about an hour.

I got the my Finnish passport from the pickup point I chose (R-Kioski at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport) the very next day.

Did you have anyone with a Finnish passport to collect your passport with you? Because in my case, I was told that I can only pick-up the passport at the police station with my home country passport as my identification or give an authorization to someone with a Finnish passport to pick-up my passport to any R-kiosk of my choice.
