So I think that you should get your citizenship in September, as normally if you don’t get it in 6 months, then it takes around 18 months and soon the time is comingRandomDude wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 2:42 pmApplied online in Jan 2022, visited Migri to prove identity in March 2022.mamutti wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 2:22 pmWhen did you apply for the citizenship?RandomDude wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 2:12 pmGot one more "application is waiting for processing" email, 19xx, stage 1![]()

Do we know if Migri visited location affect processing time at all? A friend told me Application in Helsinki point get slowest time of processing time. 2 other friends applied early 2023, in Lahti and Kuopio both got their decision after 6 months. I just happened to hear about it after applying mine in Helsinki in June

As far I remember from somewhere the actual processing is happening in Migri's Helsinki premises, so there shouldn't be any difference. And there are also examples of fast processed applications made by Helsinki residents, so you might be lucky as well.thiennguyen wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 5:11 pmDo we know if Migri visited location affect processing time at all? Thanks, to you tooAuringon_kukka wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 2:52 pmNot sure how relevant queue number is. Some applicants have gotten decisions after three months, some after six or seven, and some after two years. I'm 11 months in, still stage one. Queue # when I applied was 72xx, is now 33xx.
Best of luck with your application!

The queue number has been increasing since I applied. It's in 70xx now, weird.

According to Migri that's "normal". I wouldn't worry about it, people with their application numbers in like 66xx have been getting theirs done before those of us in 18xx.
The average Somali and Iraqi costs Finland €12,000 per person, per year.

July and December is usually a less productive month. Hopefully will get a queue number corrected soon.37yqp8098y5 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 5:00 pmAccording to Migri that's "normal". Me too applied 1st week of July and current queue is 7050+

My number is slightly under yours. Let's see who gets it first. I'm surprised your number is so low as you applied a lot later than me too. This is another reason why I don't believe the number matters at all.RandomDude wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 6:21 pmWould be great, however there are a bunch of people waiting 20+ months![]()
I'm really starting to feel that this is not true at all. It makes no sense to have Migri offices in other districts that do not work on these applications at all, but they do work on other applications? I've always suspected this to be BS from the beginning. I think this is more a ruse started by someone who falsely interpreted the situation.RandomDude wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 6:26 pmAs far I remember from somewhere the actual processing is happening in Migri's Helsinki premises, so there shouldn't be any difference. Re: Citizenship Application 2023
Does anyone know if it matters if you applied for citizenship based on family ties (spouse), haven't got a decision yet but are getting divorced? With how long it's taking, I expect the divorce to be done before a decision is made. Unfortunately I'm unemployed but trying very hard for a job (graduated with perustutkinto in March). I'm at 32xx stage 2, applied in July 2022

Re: Citizenship Application 2023
You did not apply for citizenship based on family ties, you applied based on having a valid permanent residence permit and sufficient time living in Finland.MandieLynn wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 10:46 amDoes anyone know if it matters if you applied for citizenship based on family ties (spouse),

Taking into account the long processing times, it’s always possible that you are going to have changes in your life situationFinlandGirl wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 4:23 pmYou did not apply for citizenship based on family ties, you applied based on having a valid permanent residence permit and sufficient time living in Finland.MandieLynn wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 10:46 amDoes anyone know if it matters if you applied for citizenship based on family ties (spouse),

Some changes are relevant and some are not.mamutti wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 5:46 pmTaking into account the long processing times, it’s always possible that you are going to have changes in your life situationFinlandGirl wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 4:23 pmYou did not apply for citizenship based on family ties, you applied based on having a valid permanent residence permit and sufficient time living in Finland.MandieLynn wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 10:46 amDoes anyone know if it matters if you applied for citizenship based on family ties (spouse),![]()
If you lose your residence permit while waiting for a decision that's of course relevant, but that cannot happen with P.
Re: Citizenship Application 2023
But isn't it that once you are divorced, your permit is not valid anymore due to changes in grounds of residence permit? Like in this case, permit is based on family ties.FinlandGirl wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 4:23 pmYou did not apply for citizenship based on family ties, you applied based on having a valid permanent residence permit and sufficient time living in Finland.MandieLynn wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 10:46 amDoes anyone know if it matters if you applied for citizenship based on family ties (spouse),
"If the family tie no longer exists, a residence permit granted on that basis will not necessarily be extended. It is also possible that your residence permit currently in force will be cancelled."
