Indeed, I called on my 6th month of stage 2, they said the same, that the officer is probably busy at the moment, just wait, we will notify you asap if you get a decision... Now it is 8th (almost 9th) month of stage 2 for me, I recently sent them an email but still got no reply...

From this forum I got an idea maybe they're really waiting for something from my home country this long? Tho they asked some clarification documents from me in january, and haven't opened them still 🤣

Hi, a question for people who have been for long time in stage 2, like me i have been for 3 month in this stupid processing: have anyone contacted them to ask wtf are they investigating? i tried to contact them but they said just wait! i came to finland with a permit and i have a national passport, shouldn't my identity be already checked?
How long have you been waiting until the 2nd stage? And how long have you been waiting in total? 😇

From stage one to stage two for me was kind of fast. it started processing after 6 months exactly. but stage two was a disaster. i mean i THOUGHT my case will be straight forward. came here in 2014 for my phd and been working since then, passed yki, have a permanent residency, and country is not on the list. i have two friends that applied and basically have the same situation as me, one was processed on the same day and the other waited like a month. what makes me angry they dont tell me what they are waiting for. i mean if they need a certain document i can provide that for them instead of waiting endlessly. i want to ask Juls what type of documents they asked you for if you would like to share, and how you can tell if they opened it or not?

Do they really ask for clarification from the applicant’s home country? I don’t think so.

Applied on 30.06.22, proved identity on next day - 1st of July, so over 1 year of waiting in total. Moved to stage 2 in the end of November

Of course they can contact applicants' home countries to verify certain matters (authenticity of documents, criminal record and other checks, etc.).

Only migri knows for sure, and they ain't tellin'

I have been waiting over 25 months and still stage one so you still have not done half of mine 😅😅😅 so just forget it and wait when it comes. Migri just does what it feels like 😄

Have you tried contacting them and inquire if something's wrong? Just curious.

So they asked a certificate of tenancy and rental agreement from my student housing for clarification of where I lived in 2016, and I basically track when they open my (at least student) profile by Oma Opintopolku Tietojeni Käyttö service, and the last time it was in January, right on the day when they asked for supportive docs. So I believe that nobody checked my profile in any systems ever since, and nobody had seen those clarification documents yet

How are people waiting for the notification of stage 2 / approval / denial etc of their citizenship?

Suomi.fi app? Email? SMS?

How are most people getting the notification of status change?

I've now just hit 17xx in queue. Not that I think the number ever mattered. Soon to 2 years waiting. Just patiently chilling and once a month I check the queue number because I'm bored.

I'm pretty sure that the queue you're in depends on your supporting documents. If you're missing something when you apply (kinda like I was), they put you in a longer queue so you have more time to give better supporting documents. In my case, new passport with updated surname.

Currently I'm treating the situation like a raffle. Roughly 10 people a day seem to get their answer. So about 1.2 per hour of normal working hours.

I've pretty much stopped caring about it entirely. Focusing on holidays, travel, my family, hobbies and of course work.
The average Somali and Iraqi costs Finland €12,000 per person, per year.

For all application updates and final approval, I got notifications via email.

I am almost certain that they do ask for clarification.

I had a friend of mine that his application was stuck for long time, then he hired a citizenship lawyer and the guy solved his issue in 10 days. Anyone had such an experience before?

Do you know any details about friend's case? Like how long it was stuck? What was layer's point? Were there any violations from Migri's side?

As I understood from him that there was no direct violation, but his application was in a long queue for no specific reason. I would have already contacted a lawyer, but they charge 250 euros per hour. It costed my friend like 2000 euros to get that sorted

I think most of us would rather be patient.

If you've waited 2 years already. The decision is just around the corner.
