24.01 5523 - move to step 2: processing
25.01 5496
26.01 5473
28.01 5460
01.02 5403
02.02 5386
05.02 5365
07.02 5320
15.02 5222 - no news/request from Migri. But I send additional payslips, bank account statement in the morning - received decision around 6:30pm
Congratulations 🎉🎊
but do you think sending that payment slip or bank statement, helped in processing your info? it is weird because migri says it doesn't need them anymore

Once again....KAMU CHATBOT :lol: that is part of MIGRI'S official website. idk I can't do anything else if you don't understand this part.. Try that chat bot one day maybe.
Here is migri processing time for Citezenship with Kamu chatboot
https://migri.fi/en/check-the-processin ... pplication

What kind of steps do you follow to check that? I guess you mess up Asulym application (initial application) with Citezenship. The chatbot itself has only 3 options
* Temporary protection
* Right application type
* My place in queue

which doesn't fit what you are saying. just say or go and relax on the weekend, so people won't be confused with mystery theories

Type PROCESSING TIMES on kamu chatbot and it will give you more info. Here, I took the liberty of screenshotting for you. So even if you arrive on tourist visa and apply rp here in finland, it's still the usual duration for citizenship application. It's only the longer duration if you arrived WITHOUT passport (which happens to many refugees) and/or your case is complicated in migri's POV.

Like I've also mentioned at least 2x, kamu chatbot seems to be the more up to date/less vague info out there compared to that migri link. And I was also basing it on what many have experienced IRL. I literally asked a lot of people about this.

If you are still in doubt, feel free to contact migri, just don't spread your wrong info here and making people who applied for rp inside finland panic just because you can't accept the fact that it's usually refugees who have the longer duration of processing times...

I think you don't read this English question here.
"When you arrived in Finland, did you have a residence permit and/or a national passport?"

So you see, if the question was like this "residence permit or a national passport", easy to answer YES for people who came on tourist visa. But in fact, this "and/or" is confusing here, as you can read it "residence permit and a national passport", in that case NO. If you want to debate english grammar etc. again for your theory it shoud be written "residence permit or a national passport"... and just on the same page, use the form to check about residence permit, it will tell you 29 months... some refugees are coming here with permits as well, if you didn't know, they go to embassies in other countries and apply there

So, the answer for people on tourst visa is
"On average, processing this type of citizenship application takes 28 to 29 months. The counting of the processing time begins after you have visited the Finnish Immigration Service." It doesn't mean that they can get permission faster though.

DUDE. I CAN'T WITH YOU. :lol: There is nothing vague in that screenshot unless you don't understand what "and/or" means. The next sentence also said something about IF YOU HAVE A NATIONAL PASSPORT. Everything is clear.

It's okay to accept that you can be wrong sometimes, you know?

This is going nowhere. :lol:

Anyway, other users, just ignore him or believe him if you like. :lol:

Also, to confirm that this is banana discussion, visit Finnish version of the same website.
"Tulitko Suomeen ilman oleskelulupaa tai kansallista passia?"

Click Kyllä and the answer is (surprise!)

Tällaisen kansalaisuushakemuksen käsitteleminen kestää keskimäärin 28–29 kuukautta. Käsittelyajan laskeminen alkaa siitä, kun olet käynyt Maahanmuuttovirastossa.

Just go and relax on weekend, dude.

Hi all,

This is actually my first time posting here, but I have been following this forum for quite some time :) Many useful info have been shared in this forum, which are really useful (or at least it helps me to be patiently waiting for a decision, knowing I’m not the only one 🙂)

Finally my day has come (quite surprising, to be honest, because I received my decision at 6:30pm, on the same day I sent additional payslips etc.). Below is my timeline with queue number. Hope it will help for data collection!

Background: Came to Finland on 2018 as a student - 3 year visa B + 2.5 years visa A (family ties). Have been working part-time during study, full-time since 2021. Currently, back to study and working part-time. My country is not on the list.

This week's stats:
Total processed: ~191
Total processed with queue number > 4000: ~132
Processing median: ~10962/310/2023
New applications created: ~147

By the way, is it possible to see the same graph for the applications of 2022, which have been and haven’t been processed?

Citizenship application in other countries are fast and less stressful unlike finland where some people have to wait for more than a year to get it processed.
You should check out the naturalization process in Switzerland. There, you have an interview before a panel in your place of residence. Its purpose is to determine how well you have integrated into society and what you know about Switzerland. I would imagine that to be stressful. I have no idea, though, how long the naturalization process takes from beginning to end.

In countries like the UK without a population register you must show old utility bills and other correspondence to prove you've been living in the country long enough (hopefully you kept gas and water bills for the past 5 years). If you are a married woman and the husband paid everything and had the house rent/ownership in his name then it's even more stressful.

Finally, I can share my happy news!

I applied for Finnish citizenship in April 2022 and today I received a positive decision. I am gonna share my experience in case it could help someone.

My story is that I came as a student in 2016 and started working full-time in 2018. Have never been unemployed or received Kela support. My partner is Finnish.

When I was visiting Migri during the application the person before me really put the officer in a bad mood (he was screaming at her). I was worried that she would be angry with me because of that (which is a speculation of course) and she was... So I suspected I was in the longest line because of that.

I applied to the Lappeenranta office and received an invitation for a SUPO interview. I had COVID at the time so we had to reschedule for June 2022. The interview went well but I was very nervous if I understood everything correctly in Finnish. The questions were very general and overall were concerning e.g., the news I read. It went well and I somehow was confident based on the questions that there was nothing to worry about.

After some time, I needed to update my residence permit. I went to Migri to apply for a permanent permit. The officer was straight away telling me to wait as my citizenship application was very good and I would receive citizenship in no time. Haha, well I had to insist and I applied and received a permanent permit about a year ago.

I sent two emails to Migri in the autumn of 2023 and the winter of 2024. Those were not angry but more requesting an estimate on when my application may be processed. The first email was very general but the second time when I emailed Migri they mentioned that my officer is currently processing March 2022 and I need to wait for a couple of months. And that is what happened. My processing started this January. They never asked anything but I uploaded all my new trips and the work contract. I received a decision today with queue number 1,366.

Good luck to you guys! It was a long wait for me but I suspected it from the beginning with the very angry officer in Migri accepting my application.
