First of all, I’m from South America and I want to study in Finland, I had my entrance examinations for a university in Finland in April 2010, but unfortunately it didn’t go well and I have not been accepted.

However now I am wondering if I could study a course of Finnish culture and language in Finland, prior to apply again, in 2011 to study in a university there, I have been searching for courses with those characteristics and that last for a year in Finland, because I think to study a new language requires time, and study Finnish only for 3 months wouldn’t be enough for me, but I haven’t found anything or most of info is in Finnish only, and in my country it’s impossible to find such courses.

I have read in the migri site that “Residence permits are not generally issued for studies at folk high schools, Christian colleges or similar institutions where studies do not lead to a degree or vocational qualification”; but I also asked the same question to the consul of Finland in my country and he told me “it is not possible to get a residence permit on the basis of studying a course of Finnish language only, but if you additionally study Finnish culture and history of Finland ,you maybe could get it”

So my question would be , do you know any course with those characteristics? Or could you give me an advice related to this topic.
Sorry for my mistakes in English since I’m not a native English speaker.

Thank you for you help and your kind responses.
