I want to give some snacks / cereals / finger foods ..etc but I am not aware of what is available in the stores for a 11 month old child.

If anyone knows can you please tell me the name of the product and I can look for it in s-Market and K-City market(if you can tell in which section I can find it too it will be easier :) ).

Any info will be greatly appriciated.

I like the cheerios (check for low sugar kind) as a first finger food snack.
Fresh avacado if you can find it is healthy and easy to eat.

in the UK we had a great range of kids finger foods called "Organix". Some of their lines have been recently released here as "Smafolk". you can get them in City Market - some with the babyfoods and some with the biscuits.

Have a look at these.

also, try toast, chunks of cheese, slices of pepper, cucumber (take off the skin), hard boiled egg. They can more or less eat what you eat - just in managable sizes. Just beware of salt & sugar content. Strong flavours might take some getting used to, too.

Good Luck.

My 12 month old snacks on tiny pieces of cucumber, tiny pieces of buttered bread, tiny pieces of buttered karjalanpiirakka, tiny pieces of boiled egg. These corn snack things and ABC biscuits.

Hi,

All my three children loved bananas, especially when I let them eat them by themselves (a big mess, but pop them in the bath afterwards!). When shopping and they got tired/hungry I would grab a bag of bread & give them a slice to mush & eat themselves. It's cheap, relatively clean & very healthy. Give your baby whatever you would eat, just make sure they can't choke on it eg carrots/apples they need some chewing teeth to eat it safely. Also, as has been mentioned before check the sugar content but also check the level of salt ( listed as Sodium or Na) as babies' kidneys aren't mature enough to process the amounts of salt found in most processed foods. If the sugar/salt level is similar to that found in your babies formula milk it should be fine or check with your doctor or child health nurse.

Good luck.

Yes, salt is an issue, but becoming slightly less so by 11 months. I'm in England but babies are the same everywhere and my health visitor did suggest that by 11 months/a year most of those "baby" products (e.g. the organix) aren't strictly necessary - though I still give some to my two year old just because she likes them.

Bananas, raisins, other dried fruits are all good and usually popular
Breadsticks and crispbreads (on their own, or with a dip such as pureed avocado, hummus etc.) make good finger foods.
Steamed broccoli florets, or carrots cut into long strips are easy to grab. These were popular with my daughter, but not all will take to it.
I found some really great dried "banana flavoured" cereal bits in America last year, in the bay section. Can't remember what they were called. You don't get them in England, but who knows about Finland. I think you *could* have them in milk like normal cereal but Maija just ate them dry.

My advice is not to think "product", but to think how to turn the sorts of foods you like and that you want your baby to end up eating into baby-friendly versions. By about 11 months I was just cooking all my normal foods, but lowered the salt and the amount of chilli I put in and then first pureed, then chopped it (as she grew). All babies are different, so you'll know best the sorts of textures to use, and obviously when giving more solid foods be vigilant about choking - as a sensible precaution - but don't terrify yourself as it's really an extremely unlikley event.
