You can also say tässä or täällä. In my mind "tähän" and "tässä" are synonyms here. You are standing right where the train stops. You point at the rails and say "pitkä juna juna pysähtyy tähän (tässä)". Now the person you are talking to knows the exact point where the train stops.

When you say "pitkä juna pysähtyy täällä", you mean the station. The train stops there and doesn´t huff and puff past it to the next station.

The verbs, pysähtyä and päättyä have rather similar meanings in English, but have a different sense in Finnish...

I think in your example it is the train that is either ending its journey or pausing and so pysähtyä would be used. I think tähän carries the sense of the end of the train's journey, while tässä and täällä carry the sense that the train's journey will continue after a pause.

Where you might use the verb päättyä would be saying something like: Minun junamatka päättyy Joensuussa, meaning "My train journey ends in Joensuu."

The train stops here. (It doesn’t go any further.)

Juna pysähtyy tässä.
The train stops/rests here, at this specific point. (It may then continue its journey.)

Juna pysähtyy täällä.
The train stops/rests here, in this general area. (It may then continue its journey.)
