Pappagallo has left the ice-cream parlour in Stockmann (the one by the goldfish fountain....) they were priced out by some other brand.

I haven´t noticed until now that B&J has been officially launched in Finland now. Luckily I made a search before posting these "news".

But regarding the price, I remember paying 7 euros at Stockmann sometime before they lowered the price to 5 euros. I think 5,90 is ok and quite close to other European countries. You can´t compare with the US.

Has anyone spotted New York Super fudge Chunk and Cherry Garcia in Central Helsinki? I have checked one Makuuni store and the Valitatalo in Töölö, but they don't have these two flavours which happen to be my favourites

Wasn't Chunky Monkey one of theirs? It all seems so long ago that I had the choice of B&J & Häagen Dazs.

There are a couple of decent local ones now, the blueberry pie is good and there is a chocolate cookie (can't remember which is Valio Aino and which is the Ingman equivalnet).

Otherwise it's Mövenpick for us.

Just looking back a this thread... what happened to Superior Inferior?

Ben and Jerrys is also available in my local video rental store, Videofirma Makuuni in Kamppi. ( Fredrikinkatu 48 ). There's a freezer in a corner where the sweets are. Ice cream's not really my thing tho, so I don't know what they have exactly.

the cost of ice cream is why i fully endorse granita, it can be made out of just about anything, and all you need is a metal pan and fork.

i fave some recipes if anyone is interested.

all my love,
M

4 cups grape or berry juice

Mix syrup, water, honey and juice, pour into metal pan and place in freezer. Stir mixture with a fork for about a min every hour until all of mixture is frozen. Before serving mix well with fork untill the granita is fluffy. Serve immediatly.

granitas tend to work better if there is a bit of alchol or carbonated water in them to prevent them from becoming big blocks of tasty ice. but use the basic idea and run with it.

Silly poppie, Eestin herkut, of course ;)

Or at least you used to be able to judging by the number of bottles I've
returned there ;) They said they were getting a different brand of it,
but had no idea what the timetable was for it, so I'm not sure if they
have some or not.

And thanks for the recipes! :)

Some of the bigger food stores carry it. I've gotten it here in Rauma so it probably can't be that difficult to find!!

I'd never had it before either, but I was jonesing real bad for the
Cherry Garcia and figured if I bought some other kind, they'd leave
the CG to me ;) It was just a crying shame that my tastebuds have
changed so much that the CG just didn't do it for me
