42,000 russians in Finland? OK, I wanna ask a few questions, I don't mean anything bad by it, I am just curious...

1. Why do Russians go to Finland?
2. Why do Russians go to Finland and teach Russian to finns?
3. Next time Russia attacks Finland, what will you russians in Finland do?
4. When are you gonna clean up Karelia and give it back to its rightful owners - Finland?
And finally, next time there's a nuclear power plant accident, or a big forest fire, try to fcking fix it so neighbouring countries doesn't have to suffer because of your lack of intrest to fix it.

1) Some marry Finns. Some come to work. And some (like my cottage neighbour) say they like it because they feel safe.

2) Because some Finns want to learn Russian?

3) Hmm, that I cannot answer, I would have to be Russian to say it.

4) Actually this is an interesting one because it was in the news yesterday, and is in today´s newspaper. It is not verified, but it seems that in 1991 Russia offered that Finland can BUY Karelia back. But the price was high, and massive reconstruction and cleaning costs on top of that – Finland could not afford it.

I heard about 25 000 Russians. And about 17 000 Estonians in Finland. If you consider Russian population (145 ml) and that fact that Russia is the closest neighbor, it is not too much (sad, but true :))

1. Immigration is quite a typical thing. A lot of Finnish immigrated to Sweden, Canada, USA or whatever.
2. Hmm... Is Russia is a biggest trade partner of Finland?
3. You can place Russians to concentrate camps (like USA did with Japanese during WW2) :). But frankly, wars are not possible any more.
4. But what is rightful owners? Give half of Ukraine to Russia since Russians live there! If you consider just the boarders of Great Dutch of Finland, it is fair...

*Sigh*
25.000 with RUSSIAN PASSPORT.
42.000 with RUSSIAN LANGUAGE.

Someone speaking Ukrainian with Russian passport is counted in 1.
Someone speaking Russian with a Finnish passport is counted in 2.

Define "Russian", eh.
Cheers, Hank W.

Wait Wait Wait, in 1939 it was finnish, Russia stole it... Jeltsin the fat drunk bastard wanted to SELL it back... I guess he was DRUNK when he made that offer.

And the part about estonians, I understand that, Estonians and finns are a brothervolk, brothervolks usually cares for each other.

Me as a swede, I firmly believe that taking russian immigrants "en masse" will lower the quality of life for the entire nation. I base this on historical facts. Just look at the stolen land now under Russian rule, a more dirty, depressive fallen place is hard to find. And remember... when the finns had that area, it was beautiful, full of culture. And the way russians treated the estonians for removing a bolshevist statue kinda adds to my point.

Oh and BTW, what kind of russian immigrants move to Finland? are they russians from the border area? are they tatars from Caucasus? Russian Jews? Chechens?

Then again, in 1918 Finland has occupied this territory since it was civil war Russia and central goverment was weak and agreed with every "proposal" from Finnish side

Don't really know anything about that.

It depends on Finnish immigration policy. Unlegal immigration from Russia is almost 0.

Manly from the North-West of Russia, those who is related to Finland somehow, inkeri for example. Perhaps people in Moscow consider Finland to be a remote forest country, not truly european state. But who is better? Tatars from Volga, Chechens from Caucasus or Jews? Just wonder...

Tatars and Jews came already 150 years ago. Chechens who come come as refugees. It is normal Russians, mostly from St. Petersburg area.

Some months ago I found a fascinating website which showed the "development of the country of Finland" by use of a number of maps spanning the last few 100 years. IIRC It was interesting to see that some of the bits that were lost in 1940 and then again in 1944, hadn't actually originally been part of Finland at time of Independence in 1917. I wish I could find the site, spent ages looking without success.

Here you can see small maps: http://kotisivu.mtv3.fi/suomenhistoria/ ... /rajat.htm

Sweden lost parts of Finland at some war in 1700s, and when Finland became Grand Dutchy those parts were given back. And even when they were part of Russia, it was Finns who lived there. Finns didn´t leave till WWII.

Well I can't speak for finns in Finland but Tatars, Jews and Cechens? come on... nobody in the entire world wants anything to do with them. Novgorod russians are OK in my book, you have been civilized somewhat by the scandis, not completly but somewhat... Hopefully most russians in Finland are the westernized sort, for Finlands best.

Yep, and Finns were civilized by Swedish :). I'll say your the truth - Russians in St-Pete are exactly the same as Russians 10 000 km away, in Vladivostok.

But I can. Lets stop this drivel. You are a troll, or you are genuinely some Stormfront member. Tatars and Jews just happen to be the best integrated citizens there are. They are Finns in a sense that they BELONG, they just have their own cultural background, but that doesn´t affect anything.
