Since North America gets lots of immigrants from all abroad the world, there are also specialist electronics stores catering for the expat market. They have expertise on these matters and can surely sell a workable (PAL/NTSC compatible, region-free, etc.) solution if someone doesn’t feel quite technically savvy enough to resolve the problem themselves.
...though it does have the outlet to accept an HDMI cable, so I guess that means it's a newer, "well-locked" product.... I don't mind paying an expert if they actually are giving good service....and there are lots of high-tech geeks around Vancouver who will give a person the "straight goods..."....In fact as I'm thinking about it, I'm remembering that one of my buddies has a brother who will know exactly what is possible...
