Have anyone received a decision with a queue number around 3xxx? Or is the next period after 4xxx with high probability of getting a decision something below 2xxx?
Next stage would seem to be below 2xxx. However, others with more knowledge may want to chime in here.

Anyone knows what it means for the status to be "Waiting for processing"? Does it mean that Migri hasn't touched the application yet, or Migri already checked the application and decided the time of processing (within 6-7 months / longer time).

For my case, I applied in January 2023 and my status is always in the 1st step "Waiting for processing". I'm not sure if my application is already evaluated by Migri to some degrees or if Migri hasn't touched the application at all...
It is hard to know and in some cases, I doubt this is literally waiting for processing because some move to "processing" stage then get the decision within a few minutes (highly unlikely that they only needed 1 minute to look at all the documents). I feel like sometimes migri looks at some application, compiles things they need to make decision but doesn't change it to "processing" stage until they're about to decide for some reason.

Hi , thank you for information.
I know the answer to your question in number 6. If a family has applied together, for example a family of 4 (parents and two children) (both parents have applied for citizenship for their child in their application), six file numbers will be registered for this family. It is possible that they have the same queue number in Kanu chat. And all six file numbers have a queue number.
I checked kamu for some other sequence numbers near mine and already found at least two people with the same queue number as me. I don't remember having a family applying for citizenship. Unless I have a kid unbeknownst to me. :ochesey: (I am female...)

I get data same way as described in this post
I'm sorry if this is obvious, but it's still not clear to me how one gets this data from the Kamu chatbot. Are you programmatically looping over all possible values and recording the response or is there a straightforward way to get all this data from the chatbot?

Yes they are. Put chrome into developer mode and you will see the calls to the API. There have to be several calls to initiate a conversation id and then feed in the diary number. Write this in a loop to go through all possible diary numbers for however many years you wan to check. Store the results in a database. Repeat after some interval (eg a week) and your program can detect the changes. If you are clever then have the program skip the diary numbers which it knows from last week were already in processed state (cases will not move backwards and go from processed -> pending).

If you need more information than this then you are not capable of writing a program to call the API.

You also hope that not too many people do this and migri IT notice the overload on the server, investigate it and decide to implement some measures to avoid this kind of intensive use of the API. From what I have read querying the browser history is the best way to identify what is a real person and what is a robot. They are not doing that (yet).

I am following this forum often and I'd like to share my application progress. I applied on May 20, 2022 and still in stage 1, which is over 21 months waiting :(. I sent Email to Migri and got reply that they are backloged and processing cases in earlier May, 2022. Hopefully the decsion will come soon. I keep updated.
has anyone received a decsion applied on May 2022? I have waited for 21.5 months without any decision, just wondering if anyone else has waited the same? my Q number is now 141X. This is very frastrating, as at least people received their decsions within 21 months in earlier posts.

My waiting time is approaching 21m - and I checked with Migri yesterday.
Their response was that they are still processing May'22 applications - and their new processing estimate is 23m now.
Really frustrating and disappointing, indeed

Well. I am reached the 21 months of waiting as well. I sent an email to Migri earlier and there response was like it will take 29 months. I am not an asylum seeker nor from a county on the list. And I am on a work residence permit. Just clarifying for the ones who will start making assumptions.

Did you come to Finland on tourist visa or valid residence permit?

I cannot know exactly when the application was submitted, + there are three queues, one of which moves faster than the others. I’ll analyze this more deeply tomorrow, but I can quickly give you the following information:
In 2021, about 14,000 applications were submitted; currently, 2,532 applications have not yet received a decision.
2022: ~13,400 total, 7,109 pending
2023: ~17,670 total, 13,054 pending
I applied in october 2022 and my application is still pending. i thought i was unlucky to be waiting that long. But based on the statistics, less than 50 percent of the applications have been processed, and i am sure many of those applications have already passed the 21 month processing period (all applications before may 2022). so it is obvious with this rate that they will increase the processing time soon. i am starting to really believe the theory that says if your application is not processed in 8 months or less, you will have to wait for long time
Well, 21 months is not a deadline, because there is no such a deadline in the law. And this deadline was 18 months when I contacted them in Summer 2023, then 20 month when I contacted in November 2022, so now it is 21 months. The first mention about the backlog has happened in 2021, so then Yle (https://yle.fi/a/74-20018629) has mentioned in 2023 that Migri wanted to clear the backlog in 2023, but it didn’t happen. Of course, they can tell that backlog has worsened after the new Programme, when much more people started to apply for the citizenship, but even without this increase, if you analyze the data from Migri’s statistics website, they wouldn’t be able to relieve the backlog 🥲
So, be ready for an increasing waiting time 😂
Kinda what I have told :D

You see we have two people who are waiting 21 mo ths already ok this forum. To the first one migri just recently told to wait 23 months and to you 29. So, your application is different than

well basically also what i meant. there is increased number of applications, and the submitted applications are usually higher weekly than the processed applications. So after a certain period of time, maybe a year, the backlog will be so high that migri will have to hire more staff or change the way migri processes the applications. if migri would have processed the applications systematically by using the queue number, then this matter would have been resolved. but having random applications processed, let us say from the queue number 4000 - 6000, will definitely increase the backlog at the lower queue number application, and they will exceed the processing time, and then of course since i have been 11 years in finland i will tell you what they will do: have a meeting, drink coffee and increase the processing time. so yeah it might reach 60 months in the year 2028 😂

Does having permanent residency speed up the citizenship application process?

Not at all, but in a year there will be a new law, and you won't get citizenship unless you have a PR
